Struggling Real may not be best option for Trent

THE only way to describe the feeling of the past week is giddy.

Last Friday, Mohamed Salah put pen to paper on a new contract, keeping him at the club for a further two years.

On Sunday, Virgil van Dijk clinched a 2-1 win over West Ham to dispel any lingering doubts over whether Liverpool will end the season as Premier League champions.

And yesterday, the captain signed a new two-year deal.

Liverpool have spent much of this season at risk of needing a major rebuild in the summer, with the potential departure of three of their biggest stars, and no transfer fees to help replace them.

Now, with the futures of Van Dijk and Salah resolved, and only Trent Alexander-Arnold's situation outstanding, Arne Slot and Richard Hughes can begin improving the squad from a position of strength.
