READERS SLAM WALKER RESCUED FROM STORM-HIT TRYFAN IN SHORTS

Daily Post readers were stunned after a walker in shorts was rescued from Eryri (Snowdonia) during 86 mph winds in Storm Amy, telling rescuers: “The weather didn't look that bad.”

The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation (OVMRO) described the incident on Tryfan as entirely avoidable and urged walkers to always check weather forecasts before heading into the hills.

In a statement, OVMRO said: “No sooner had Storm Amy hit than the team was called out for a solo walker stuck below the summit of Tryfan. Winds gusting up to 86 mph in Capel Curig made progress slow as our team navigated steep and treacherous ground on the east side of the mountain. When we reached the walker, he was wearing only shorts and explained ‘The weather didn’t look that bad!
