MYSTERY AS FRUIT AND VEG WASH UP ALONG ISLAND COAST

BEACH walkers on Anglesey have been left baffled after finding large amounts of fruit and veg washed up on the sand.

Red Wharf Bay on the island’s east coast was said to be littered with chilli peppers and broccoli.

Another woman reported finding apples on the same beach.

Further down the coast, a walker came across lemons washed up on Llanddona beach.

Government agencies have struggled to provide an explanation.

Coastguards have said they are unaware of any vessels with lost cargoes in the area.

A woman strolling with her daughter across Red Wharf beach (Traeth Coch) was bemused by what she found. “My little girl picked up one of the green peppers)” she said.

“J just thought it was a sea plant until we saw the other red peppers and broccoli. There was loads across the beach, mixed in with the seaweed.”
