Moyes exudes calm as the 'silly season' arrives at Finch Farm

EVERTON have entered the 'silly season' but, for the first time in a long while, it feels like Finch Farm is well sheltered from the prevailing squalls.

Over recent years the club's training ground has been repeatedly battered by the perfect storms formed in the midst of uncertainty on and off the pitch uncertainty that has often veered into chaos.

Under David Moyes the atmosphere is completely different.

The club has a manager who is self-assured and has weathered enough troubling conditions to be comfortable dealing with what comes his way. Sean Dyche, who Moyes replaced in January, showed commendable doses of calm during his stint in charge.

Yet his unwillingness to offer any insight into his thoughts, at times, added to the frustration of efforts that were often undermined by the instability above and around him.

With the Friedkin Group now well-established as the new owners, Moyes has the benefit of the calm exuded by their presence to add to his experience.
