THIS October, National Trust Cymru invites families to a packed programme of autumn adventures across North Wales.

- By PAUL ATKINS

From folklore-inspired trails and craft activities to Halloween-themed events and seasonal storytelling, explore historic houses, gardens and castles in a whole new light.

Half-term events run from October 25 to November 2, unless otherwise stated.

Erddig Hall and Garden, Wrexham: Follow the half-term garden trail inspired by Erddig Hall's Tribes Room and its grand collection of coats of arms to discover brave beasts and magical creatures.

On October 28 and 30, design your own coat of arms.

Celebrate Halloween on October 31 with pumpkin carving, spooky crafts and a dusk garden walk - look out for eerie apple faces!

Chirk Castle and Garden, Wrexham: Adventure around the autumnal gardens on a special quest to find a golden chair, inspired by Welsh folklore.
