Ker plays down talk of a £19m move for striker

WREXHAM director Humphrey Ker has cast doubt on speculation linking the club with a record-breaking £19million bid for Angers forward Sidiki Cherif.

Reports emerged on Thursday claiming the Championship side were pursuing a move to sign the 19-year-old striker, who currently plays in France's Ligue 1.

The youngster is also said to be attracting strong interest from Premier League club Crystal Palace.

If such a deal were completed, it would smash Wrexham's current transfer record after they paid a reported fee of £10m for Wales international Nathan Broadhead last summer.

Championship standings and are seeking to strengthen their squad as they sit just two points shy of the playoff places.

Speaking more generally about January transfers beyond the Cherif links, Ker suggested some agents are using Wrexham's name to inflate their players' values.
