INFLUENTIAL ANNUAL GUIDE'S HIGH PRAISE FOR 'BEAUTIFUL, LIVELY' ANGLESEY
ANGLESEY is one of the best locations to live in the UK - and is one of seven places in Wales featured in the The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2026 annual guide.
Independent judges for The Sunday Times visited all the locations and assessed factors from amenities as well as access to high-quality green spaces and the health of the high street schools to transport, broadband speeds and mobile signal.
In total 72 places across the UK were selected by The Sunday Times higlighting the best of Britain within the best places to live 2026 guide. Norwich, in Norfolk, was named the overall national winner, reports WalesOnline.
Anglesey: The guide decided to name the whole of the Isle of Anglesey as one location as it feels like it “has its own pace of life, affordable homes, and a strong sense of identity.”
Judges’ comments include the fact that the “lively island” is breathtakingly beautiful with seaside scenery that’s a match for anything in the UK.
It has interesting shops, pubs, and restaurants and it’s a place where everyone has their favourite secret spots to swim or watch the porpoises, seabirds, and red squirrels while avoiding the holiday crowds.
Beaumaris is potentially the most well-known location for shopping, eating out, and exploring history at the majestic castle.
The island can offer a variety of property for sale - from huge mansions and converted period buildings overlooking the sea to country cottages to homes nestled within its cute villages and small towns.
Rightmove states house prices on the Isle of Anglesey as a whole have an overall average of £256,194 over the last year but this increases to £370,467 in and around Beaumaris.
Properties around the stunning Red Wharf Bay and Trearddur Bay go up in price again - around £467,667 overall average last year.
