Four prominent Llandudno seafront hotels currently shut

- By OWEN HUGHES Business Correspondent owen.hughes@dailypost.co.uk

LLANDUDNO’S sweep of hotels along the town’s curved bay is known throughout the UK and around the world.

Hotels have been operating along this stretch of coastline since the 1800s and the resort remains as popular as ever.

That row of hotels ranges from the four star St George's to budget options where rooms can be secured for under £40 a night out of season.

Most properties remain occupied and open all year round as summer breaks move into autumn adventures before the start of tinsel and turkey trips.

But as the dark nights set in early there are a few hotels where the lights are off. This includes iconic names on the seafront.

Here we look at the closed sites and the prospects about the doors reopening before too long.

Queen’s Hotel

This was one of the first major hotels on the resort's seafront - dating back to 1854. A new wing was added in 1884 and it was given Grade II listed building status in the 1970s.

Sadly the hotel was closed in March 2020. It had earlier fallen into administration following the collapse of Northern Powerhouse Developments(NPD), run by Gavin Woodhouse.

The site was bought by Everbright Hotels in 2022. They also took on the Belmont and Llandudno Bay hotels, which had been part of the same NPD group.
