MAE gwyddonwyr o Gymru wedi mapio’r microbau cuddiedig sy'n ffynnu ym mhyllau glo segur de Cymru, gan helpu i oresgyn y rhwystrau i ddefnyddio dwr y pyllau i gynhesu cartrefi Prydain.
-
Mae’r posibiliadau ar gyfer gwresogi geothermal yn fawr gan fod eiddo tua chwarter poblogaeth y DU uwchben pyllau glo segur.
Yn 2023, yn nhref Gateshead, sefydlwyd system arloesol i gyinewid gwres sy'n cynhesu 350 0 gartrefi a nifer o fusnesau gan ddefnyddio dvr 0 byllau glo wedi ei gynhesu’n naturiol. Mae prosiect mwy o faint ar y gweill yn Swydd Durham lle bydd 1,500 o gartrefi yn cael eu gwresogi yn gyfan gwbl gan y dull hwn.
Mae’r dwr daear mewn hen weithfeydd glo sydd bellach 0 dan ddwr yn cael ei gynhesu gan brosesau geothermal naturiol ac mae’n fan bridio cynhyrchiol i facteria sy'n bresennol yn naturiol. Gall y microbau hyn ddylanwadu’n sylweddol ar natur gemegol dwr y cloddfeydd, ac mae iddynt oblygiadau i effeithiolrwydd a hirhoedledd systemau geothermal.
Samplwyd y dwr a oedd yn llifo o hen gloddfeydd yn Ne Cymru gan dim o ficrobiolegwyr 0 Brifysgol Aberystwyth gan ddefnyddio dilyniannau DNA uwch i ddadansoddi’r poblogaethau bacteria a mapio’r lluo ficrobau oedd yn bresennol.
