63-year-old crushed to death by truck on Ynys Enlli

INQUEST TOLD OF 'TRAGIC ACCIDENT' OF MAN WHO'LOVED HELPING OUT'

A 63-year-old grandfather was crushed against a wall as he tried to stop a 4x4 utility truck rolling back on a remote Welsh island, an inquest heard.

Christopher Lamont, of Bridgnorth, Shropshire, nicknamed “Lofty”, had been transporting luggage for visitors who arrived by boat to Ynys Enlli [Bardsey Island], Gwynedd, when the tragedy happened in June last year.

His daughter Jodi Jarvis told an inquest in Caernarfon: “He went to Wales to get away from it all. It was his retreat, and he sought sanctuary there. Dad loved helping out.”
