A COUNTY in North Wales is to receive UK Government funding as one of more than 300 'overlooked' communities in Britain.

- By DAVID POWELL Daily Post Reporter david.powell@reachplc.com

The government announced £5bn of investment for parts of the UK in the Pride in Place program.

This will include 169 areas that will get £2m every year for a decade, while a further 95 places will get a one-off payment of £1.5m.

The part of North Wales to get the £20m boost is Conwy with places like the seaside resort of Colwyn Bay in dire need of regeneration.

Wrexham and Rhyl have previously received £20m under a separate Plans for Neighbourhood scheme.

Every North Wales county will also get a Pride In Place impact fund of £1.5m this year. UK Government said communities will decide how it is spent and that the money could help clean up eyesores or save local pubs or libraries and tackle antisocial behaviour.
