EMERGENCY REPAIRS NEEDED TO CRUMBLING STONEWORK

- By DAVID POWELL Daily Post Reporter david.powell@reachplc.com

THE owners of an historic North Wales castle have launched a £20,000 appeal to help fund emergency repairs.

Gwydir Castle near Llanrwst is a medieval building in need of urgent work to restore parts of its crumbling structure.

It is in an area which has been inundated after heavy rain for years.

Now the owners Peter Welford and Judy Corbett have launched a GoFundMe appeal to fund "Emergency Repair Work To The Medieval Hall Range".

She posted on X: "Those of you who are familiar with our story at Gwydir will know of our efforts to restore and maintain this extraordinary ancient building over the last 32 years, transforming it from near-derelict ruin to a much-loved historic house and garden open to the public.

"Gwydir has no estate to support it, neither does it receive any public funding or subsidy.
