Youssef backs in-form Petersen for Bafana recall

KAIZER Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef believes goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is edging closer to earning a recall to Bafana Bafana after a string of commanding performances this season.

The experienced shot-stopper has rediscovered his best form, anchoring Amakhosi’s defence with maturity and composure that has helped them navigate a challenging run of fixtures both domestically and on the continent.

His performances have reignited calls for a national team return ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will take place in Morocco between December and January.

Petersen has been central to Chiefs’ recent momentum, producing crucial saves and showing renewed leadership in a side that is beginning to find balance under Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.

The 31-year-old, recently named club captain has kept nine clean sheets across all competitions - a mark of his consistency and growing confidence.
