Canada and Mexico fighting fire with fire after Trump's tariffs
DONALD Trump has sparked a bitter trade war as Mexico and Canada hit back with retaliatory tariffs after the US president slapped both with huge levies.
Within hours of the White House's tariffs announcement on Saturday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum imposed matching charges on imported US goods.
Yesterday, Home Secretary Ms Cooper told the BBC that tariff rises "can have a really damaging impact on global growth and trade".
Mr Trudeau announced "far-reaching" 25% tariffs on US products, affecting £86billion in value, including beer, wine and household appliances.
