The FA Cup of darts is ideal for me

THE UK Open, the FA Cup of darts, is one of my favourite tournaments of the year.

It will surely throw up its usual fair share of surprise results - that's the joy of this unique format.

There is no equivalent tournament on the calendar, with PDC amateur qualifiers, players from the Development Tour Orders of Merit, and the current top 32 among the field.

Just like football's FA Cup, the stage is set in Minehead for giant-killings from players who you may not have heard of but who could be household names by the end of the week.
