AFTER struggling with poor mental health during school, Sarah Garvin was diagnosed as having ADHD in her early 20s.

From leaving school, Sarah, 32, from Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, had 26 different jobs and couldn't settle. But after stumbling on The King’s Trust Enterprise programme she has built up a successful cake-baking business and learned to embrace her ADHD.

What do you do?

My business Cake ’n’ Bake supplies celebration cakes.

What do you love about it?

I love the freedom of my time being my own, and being a part of people's special events. I also love that I'm my own boss.

What are the challenges?

It can be challenging when you're unwell and there's no one to pick up the work. It’s also a bit lonely being self-employed. It's quite demanding of your time and it can be stressful that people book you for big life events — there's a lot of pressure on the events side of things.

What did you do before?

Before I started up, I was a nursery teacher, but that was just one of the 26 different jobs I had between leaving school and starting the business.

What led you to The King’s Trust?
