Flat racing returns to Newbury with the track’s Classic trials taking centre stage but the aptly-named OLBG Spring Cup (3.12) is the race in which to make hay.
Richard Hannon’s (below) top-weight SON finished fourth in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes on this card 12 months ago but that was as good as it got last season.
His juvenile form the previous year was very useful and he is just the type to pick up the thread this term having been gelded over the winter. Have 2pts each-way at 11-1. Sky Bet are paying out on five places.
