Skipper slams 'sloppy' Spurs after Bergvall's Dutch of misfortune

HEUNG-MIN SON said Tottenham were served a wake-up call after last night's stinker threatened to ruin their last remaining hope of silverware.

Lucas Bergvall’s own goal leaves Ange Postecoglous men with a deficit to turn around at home next week.

And the biggest positive was that AZ Alkmaar could not convert their chances into even more goals.

This was a sloppy and careless display from Spurs as their attack was restricted to a solitary attempt on target - and the defence was made to suffer by former Tottenham striker Troy Parrott.

And subdued Spurs skipper Son said: “It's very disappointing to perform like this.

“It was a big wake-up call. It was very sloppy, not performing the way we should.

“No excuse, it was not good enough - nowhere near where we should perform.

“Next week, we have to be much better than we were.”

After a cagey start, with neither side appearing capable of imposing themselves, there was a massive slice of misfortune about Bergvall’s mishap.
