Son 'booked for murder' after director Rob Reiner & wife 'found with throats cut' at home

THE movie world was in shock last night after it was alleged Rob Reiner's son had been taken into custody after the filmmaker and his wife were found dead.

Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer, 68, were discovered with their throats cut in their Los Angeles home on Sunday by their daughter, Romy, who lives across the street.

Their son, Nick, 32, was interviewed by police yesterday and last night had been "booked for murder" said LAPD's Jim McDonnell.

He is said to be held in custody with no bail. A senior officer said investigators aim to speak to all relevant family members.

Reiner directed several classic films during a stellar career including When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, This Is Spinal Tap, Misery and The Princess Bride.

Celebrity news website TMZ reported the couple had their throats cut. It also claimed the Reiners got into a very loud argument" with Nick at US chat-show host Conan O'Brien's Christmas party, but the police have not confirmed these details.

A family spokesperson said: "It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner.
