Quinns plot Nunthorpe raid after star sprinter reigns in King George
-
JM JUNGLE stepped out of handicaps to lift the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes — and the top-tier Nunthorpe Stakes at York is next.
The five-year-old, trained by North Yorkshire-based father-and-son duo John and Sean Quinn, has been the model of consistency in the handicap sphere.
But the success of Jm Jungle's old rival American Affair in the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot in June - the pair clashed in big-money handicaps at Musselburgh and York in the spring - persuaded the pair to grander ambitions with Jm Jungle.
And the ploy came off as the Jason Hart-ridden 14-1 chance contained the late surge of She's Quality by a neck, with Time For Sandals, winner of Ascot's Group 1 Commonwealth Cup, half a length away in third.
