Transplant pioneer's plea

- BY JEREMY ARMSTRONG

RESPECT YOUR LOVED ONES' DONOR WISHES

THE UK's longest-surviving heart transplant patient is urging families to support loved ones who want to donate their organs.

Kaylee Davidson-Olley was the first baby in the country to have a heart transplant in 1987. Kaylee, now 38, has spoken out after the Mirror-backed opt out law on organ donation in England celebrated its fifth anniversary.

Government figures show 680 people rejected the wishes of a donor last year, leading to an estimated 2,040 “missed opportunities” for transplant.
