AS an OAP who, along with my wife, paid into our company pensions, we are quite comfortable and accepted the winter fuel payment as a bonus for being good citizens and assets to our country.

I did not feel guilty receiving it knowing it was less than one day's attendance money in the House of Lords, plus all the other perks.
We have always voted Labour and to see the payment being the very first cut to be made didn't bode well for this new Labour government.
To me, this was a dreadful mistake and instantly lost Starmer much popularity and played into the hands of Reform. You need to look after your core support group or face the consequences.

Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are sleepwalking into destroying the Labour Party and will be defeated at the next election unless they come back to the people that got them elected.
There have been broken pledges, austerity and weakness against the far right and Trump. They have come across as dull, out of touch and uncaring.
Come on, Keir, get a backbone and give the pensioners, disabled and sick a boost.
