PM delay adds to Hillsborough pain
Daily Mirror UK
|April 18, 2025
I READ Brian Reade's heartfelt column (Mirror, April 12) and the fact he was present at that game makes his passion for this necessary law even more relevant.
-
The onus is on the government to stop procrastinating and get this law on the statute books.
The affected families need it, as it may provide some semblance of closure. The Hillsborough Law is their rightful legacy and anything less will be a dereliction of moral and responsible duty.
Please, Prime Minister, don't let them down.
Judith Daniels Great Yarmouth, Norfolk
■Brian's column in the Mirror, about the dangers of watering down the Hillsborough Law was very interesting but, respectfully, what you expect from a government that takes £300 cold winter payments from pensioners?
What can you expect from a government that is looking to take disability benefits from people?
So, don't hold your breath. It will be the watered down version that we'll get because this government will not stand up for the little person on the street and would see them struggle even more.
