Rookies get chance to shine

FORMULA ONE rules require all drivers to give up two practice sessions per year to offer 'rookie' drivers time in the spotlight.

With every team on the grid yet to fulfil their quota for the season, this weekend's Mexico City Grand Prix has been chosen to tick some boxes.

Four-time champion Max Verstappen and the British quartet of Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, George Russell and Oliver Bearman are among those who will be temporarily sidelined in first practice on Friday.

Sauber are the only team who have not announced a plan to switch out one of their main drivers. We take a look at some of the rookies who will get their chance to shine.
