£9.5m scheme to give more Brits online skills
BRITONS who struggle to get online will receive support to stop them missing out on basics like receiving emails and finding cheaper rail tickets or insurance.
Some 1.6 million people in the UK cannot access the online world, with over-75s the most disconnected.
Ministers will today announce £9.5million for local charities and councils to tackle digital inequality.
With 7.9 million adults lacking basic digital skills, the funding will go towards workshops to help improve people's tech abilities and schemes donating devices like phones and laptops to boost access.
