But Gove denies Tory failings mean Boris should be finished in politics

MICHAEL Gove has apologised for the Tories' botched handling of the pandemic but insisted that Boris Johnson's political career should not be over.

The Tory peer rejected this week's Covid Inquiry report that a “toxic and sexist” climate under his old boss had contributed to the government's shambolic response.

He also poured doubt on Baroness Heather Hallett’s finding 23,000 lives could have been saved if the ex-PM had acted faster on lockdowns.
