Burnham Vows Labour backing after by-election block but hits out at party briefings

ANDY Burnham insists he is not bitter about being blocked from standing for Labour in a by-election and has attacked the culture of briefing against politicians.

The Greater Manchester metro mayor said he did not want to undermine Prime Minister Keir Starmer's authority and would support Labour in its bid to retain Gorton and Denton next month, the seat he had hoped to stand for.
