News anchor in sex photos storm resigns after 40yrs

NEWSREADER Huw Edwards has resigned from the BBC on "medical advice" 10 months after he was suspended on full pay amid a sleaze scandal.

Edwards, 62, was the BBC's highest-paid newsreader, earning upwards of £435,000 a year. In 40 years at the Beeb, he had covered major events, such as William and Kate's wedding in 2011 and the Queen's funeral in 2022.

He has not been seen on screen since July, when claims emerged that he had paid a young person for sexually explicit photos.
