The NEWPORT boss was sacked after a 14th defeat of the season as the bottom club lost 1-0 at relegation rivals SHREWSBURY to leave them four points adrift of safety.

County are looking for a fifth permanent manager since 2021 and, after six months at the helm, 47-year-old Hughes (above) admitted: "My time at the club has come to an end and I understand why. Now it's someone else's challenge."
