Celebrity chef says local boozers are national treasures we must all protect

HESTON Blumenthal has joined The Mirror's call for action to help save Britain's threatened pubs.

The celebrity chef, who also warns weight loss drugs will sap diners’ appetites, spoke out as nearly five pubs a week were lost in the first half of 2025.

Heston said pubs were vital to bring people together and support local economies, adding: “The pub is a national treasure and must be protected.
