Hatred builds as Big Tech grooms a grown-up mob
Daily Mirror UK
|September 16, 2025
HAVING spent two years concerned in this column about the rise in divisive rhetoric in our society, the last two weeks have come as no surprise.

We've had a far-right party conference led by Reform - that extreme, corporate lobbying group with their vicious, xenophobic manifesto - broadcast and legitimised with breathless enthusiasm by sections of our mainstream media.
We've also had Saturday's London rally, organised and led by one of Britain's most far-right proponents and featuring a virtual appearance from tech billionaire Elon Musk, encouraging what many interpreted as an incitement to violence.
The UK's mainstream platforms publicised and broadcast both events live, awestruck at the sheer weight of numbers.
Now, however, some employees on those same platforms are voicing their concerns at the poisonous climate now enveloping us all like a toxic gas. Go figure.
Not everyone attending Saturday's march was racist. Big Tech, however, is actively dipping its hand into the water of the UK and making waves.
It wants to tear up our democracy and turn us against each other.
