French cops in tear gas blitz on migrants

POLICE fired tear gas at migrants as they waited for a small boat thought to have been UK-bound.

Hundreds gathered before dashing towards the Channel at Gravelines beach, North East Calais, all intent on boarding a dinghy yesterday morning.

There was a cloud of tear gas visible as migrants ran from the dunes.

It comes as Keir Starmer signalled a visa crackdown on countries that refuse to do enough to tackle the crisis.
