Coalition of Willing joins Zelensky in White House ceasefire crusade

- ASHLEY COWBURN

Eur not alone...

KEIR Starmer will join European leaders to take a united stand with Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelensky during negotiations with Donald Trump at the White House today.

The Prime Minister will fly to Washington, DC to stand alongside the Ukrainian leader to discuss an end to Russia's bloody invasion.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italy's Giorgia Meloni, and Finnish President Alexander Stubb are also set to flank Mr Zelensky.

imageThey will be joined by Nato General Secretary Mark European Rutte and Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, who said she was joining "at the request of President Zelensky". It follows Mr Trump and Russian tyrant Vladimir Putin's summit in Alaska on Friday where no deal was reached on a ceasefire in the three-and-a-half-year conflict in Ukraine.

European leaders will be hoping to swerve a repeat of explosive scenes in the Oval Office in February when Mr Trump and Vice President JD Vance tried to belittle Mr Zelensky.

In scenes broadcast globally, Mr Trump pointed his finger at the Ukraine leader and warned he was "gambling with World War Three". In a bid to humiliate Mr Zelensky, who left the White House earlier than planned, Mr Vance asked him: "Have you said 'thank you' once?"
