Essex Boys killer parole bid on hold

Steele freedom after 27 years challenged
THE Justice Secretary is challenging the decision to release one of the Essex Boys gangland murderers.
Michael Steele, now in his 80s, was jailed for life in 1998 along with Jack Whomes for killing Tony Tucker, Pat Tate and Craig Rolfe.
A Parole Board panel last month agreed to free him after ruling his imprisonment is “no longer necessary for the protection of the public”.
