Star Salmon evades.pan as family ill

EASTENDERS star Colin Salmon wept in court as he escaped a driving ban, explaining he had to drive his poorly wife and daughter to medical appointments.

The actor, 64, was caught driving at 24mph in a 20mph zone early one morning earlier this year.

He already had nine points on his licence, for speeding on April 30, 2023, jumping a red light on February 27 this year and driving without due care and attention on April 15.

After admitting speeding - at 24mph in a 20mph zone in Acton, West London, at 7.17am on March 31 - he was given another three points. But while the total of 12 usually triggers a six-month driving disqualification, chairman of the bench of magistrates Mark Stollery said an exception could be made.

He explained: "We note you are the main breadwinner and carer for your family and within the family, members have life-limiting conditions, including your wife and children, who all have varying medical conditions.
