Longer waits and job losses as US forces up NHS drug costs

DONALD Trump forcing the NHS to spend more on vital medicines could mean job cuts and even longer waiting times, health leaders warn.

The NHS Confederation and NHS Providers, representing trusts and other health organisations, said that the cost of covering redundancies and strikes, on top of the potential hikes, has not been included in this year's budget.

Matthew Taylor, chief executive of the NHS Confederation, said: "The threat risks derailing progress on key waiting time targets and the wider reforms that are essential to getting the NHS back on track."
