Daily Mirror UK
|October 04, 2025
AFTER 1,428 years, the Church of England finally has a woman in charge.
The King yesterday gave his approval for former cancer nurse Sarah Mullally to lead the world's 85 million Anglicans.
Dame Sarah, 63, currently Bishop of London, follows 105 men who have held the Archbishop of Canterbury role since St Augustine became the first in the year 597.
The married mum-of-two was made a dame in 2005 in recognition of her former role as chief nursing officer for England.
