Arrested aid activists are set for deportation : At least 41 Gazans killed in fresh strikes

ISRAEL is set to deport the 443 activists it arrested on a flotilla carrying aid to Gaza.

Climate activist Greta Thunberg was among the campaigners detained after 49 of their 50 ships were intercepted, some of them in international waters.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said the activists were being transported to the port city of Ashdod before being sent back to their respective countries.

Our own Foreign Office confirmed it had contacted the families of Britons aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla and it had spoken to Israel to “make clear we expect the situation to be resolved safely”.

At least seven Irish citizens were detained, including Sinn Fein senator Chris Andrews.
