Emergency crews battle fatal current in tragic rescue bid

TWO people were missing and feared dead last night after a traditional festive swim ended in tragedy.

Dozens of bathers entered the sea at Budleigh Salterton in Devon, despite warnings about dangerous conditions.

It is believed that two men were swept out to sea in the deadly currents.

Several other swimmers were rescued and pulled to safety from the waves.
