CBSL names two new Deputy Governors

The Central Bank has appointed Assistant Governors C. Amarasekara and K. G. P. Sirikumara as Deputy Governors, in line with a recommendation by its governing board.

Dr. Amarasekara's appointment took effect on 24 October 2025, while Sirikumara will assume office on 3 November 2025, the monetary watchdog said this week.
Dr. Amarasekara has served the Central Bank of Sri Lanka for more than 22 years. Prior to being appointed as the Deputy Governor, he held the position of Assistant Governor overseeing the Departments of Economic Research, Statistics, and Market Operations, Facilities Management as well as Macroprudential Surveillance. He was also the Secretary to the Monetary Policy Board (MPB).
He previously served at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., as Alternate Executive Director for constituency of Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh and Bhutan (January 2022-February 2024).
