THE Cabinet of Ministers on Monday approved establishing a dedicated research unit within the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (Sri Lanka CERT) to strengthen national cybersecurity capabilities in line with the country's accelerating digital transformation agenda.

Announcing the decisions at the weekly post-Cabinet meeting media briefing yesterday, Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said the new Cyber Threat and Malware Analysis Research Unit will play a key role in identifying and mitigating cyber threats, boosting malware analysis capabilities and developing skilled human resources to support secure digital infrastructure.
