A BURGLAR who smashed his way into an opticians and stole glasses worth £8,000 was found days later by police hiding inside a metal refuse bin.
CCTV captured prolific thief Ashley Lawrence, 37, using his body weight to break through the glass door of the shop at 5am last Wednesday.
He grabbed around 50 pairs of sunglasses and frames and then fled.
But three days later a staff member spotted him loitering near the shop in Nottingham city centre.
The employee recognised him as the burglar who had ransacked Gray & Bull Opticians, in Pelham Street, and alerted the police.
When officers arrived Lawrence tried to evade capture by running away and diving into a large commercial refuse bin next to a church.
