Emery's men survive late drama to hang on for point

EMERSON proved West Ham's main man as Aston Villa got out of jail.

The Italy wing-back headed his second goal of the season to gain the Hammers a hard-earned point at Villa Park.

New head coach Graham Potter then thought his side had bagged a dramatic late winner, when Lucas Paqueta stabbed home eight minutes into stoppage time, after Villa keeper Emi Martinez made a hash of Andy Irving's shot.

But VAR rightly ruled that Hammers captain Tomas Soucek was offside when he supplied Paqueta.
