Vile boyfriend offered strangers £400 to beat up woman

A MAN whose “sinister campaign of control” included throttling his partner and offering strangers £400 to beat her up has been jailed.

Kian Rowe, 21, rang police in a “preemptive strike” to falsely accuse his girlfriend of attacking him, resulting in her brief arrest.

But Carlisle crown court heard that when he rang again suspicious officers realised she was the victim.

Rowe admitted strangulation, controlling or coercive behaviour and stalking. He was jailed for three years by Judge Michael Fanning and given a 10-year restraining order.

Tim Evans, prosecuting, said Rowe carried out a “determined, persistent and, bluntly, sinister campaign of control” in the four-month relationship, including restricting her contact with family and friends.
