Vandals topple WW1 heroes' memorial tree
Daily Express
|December 13, 2025
A CHRISTMAS tree that was planted over a decade ago as a memorial to soldiers killed in the First World War has been cut down just hours after its festive lights were switched on.
Police believe the village landmark was felled deliberately, and said they "will deal with anyone responsible as robustly as the law allows".
It was cut down between 10pm and 11pm on Wednesday night in the village of Shotton Colliery, Co Durham.
Disgusting
