Trump tees up PM talks with EU trade deal

DONALD Trump was in the driving seat ahead of crunch trade talks with Sir Keir Starmer today after the EU swung its own deal.

The US president turned driver of his golf buggy as he enjoyed a round amid tight security on his Turnberry course yesterday. He will meet the Prime Minister there later today to discuss the landmark Economic Prosperity Deal, aimed at boosting trade links with the UK.

Officials have been working on it since Sir Keir visited the White House in February. It is hoped the deal will soften the blow of Mr Trump’s tariffs on the UK’s car and steel industries.
