Trump: Starmer's done nothing to end the war

DONALD Trump fired a broadside at Sir Keir Starmer, saying he "didn't do anything" to end the war in Ukraine.

The barb came days before the Prime Minister and French president Emmanuel Macron visit the US leader in Washington.

Mr Trump previously branded President Volodymyr Zelensky a "dictator", which forced Sir Keir to back the Ukrainian leader.

Asked about the PM and Mr Macron's visits next week, Mr Trump said yesterday: "They didn't do anything either.

"The war's going on, no meetings with Russia, no nothing.

"Macron is a friend of mine, and I've met with the Prime Minister, he's a very nice guy...[but] nobody's done anything.

Mr Trump said the only reason Russia had joined talks on ending the war was "because of me" and said Mr Zelensky was negotiating with "no cards".

He added: "You just get sick of it. And I've had it. He's been at a meeting for three years, and nothing got done." It comes as Sir Keir is being urged to speak "honestly and openly" with Mr Trump.

Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said: "The threat that Donald Trump poses to our economy and security is as serious as I can ever remember."
