Triumphant Ruud hails Draper as a man for the future

CASPER RUUD spoilt Jack Draper’s party at the Madrid Open by beating the British No.1 to lift the biggest title of his career.

The 14th seed came back from a break down in the opening set, sealing a 7-5 3-6 6-4 victory last night to claim his first Masters 1000 crown.

But before getting his hands on the trophy, Ruud said the “sky is the limit” for 23-year-old Draper.

Ruud, below, said: “What a player you are already at a young age ~a player you've become on all surfaces.

“You're a threat to everyone now. Doesn’t matter where, doesn’t matter when.

“The sky is the limit for you.

Unbelievable effort these couple of weeks.

“To your team as well, I know you're working really hard.

“Keep going, it’s an honour to watch you play —and luckily it was my day today.”
