Tram-endous! Holidaymaker favourites on track to return

HOLIDAYMAKERS in Blackpool will be thrilled to see the return of illuminated trams on the promenade.

Boasting hundreds of brightly coloured lights, the 1960s relics were suspended in December because it was hard to run them alongside the modern fleet.

But Blackpool Council said it had agreed to undertake a “programme of works” to allow the famous seasonal heritage trams to brighten up the resort this autumn in time for October half-term’s Lightpool Festival.

Council leader Lynn Williams said: “I know many people have been concerned about the future of the trams and I hope this reassures them that their future is safe.”
