Tourists slashed in machete rampage

TWO British tourists were slashed when a man brandishing a machete ran amok in Moroccan holiday resort.

The unnamed pair, said to be a couple, were targeted along with a Moroccan woman who lives in Belgium, in the horror attack.

Dozens of screaming beach-goers fled during the rampage in the city of Agadir, on the country's southern Atlantic coast.

Beach staff chased the attacker into the sea, where he was caught and taken into custody by police.

The victims, who witnesses said were slashed on their legs and back, were taken to hospital in the city. Two were later discharged but one remained there last night.

The 33-year-old suspect is understood to have been jailed three years ago for drug trafficking offences.
